Itinerary Details

Road trip anyone?! Let’s take a cruise across the Commonwealth to experience all kinds horsepower opportunities on the road! This itinerary will take you from the very western part of the state towards the east with plenty of chances to see how the horsepower is made, what it sounds like, and learn how the love and passion for horsepower has thrived through the decades!

DAY 1

Take a step back in time for these car experiences. Time slows down in Western Kentucky and we revel in our ability to keep the nostalgia present! As a car enthusiast, consider these experiences in Western Kentucky. Lodging options include hotels, lakeside cottages, campgrounds, and more at any one of the linked counties!

  • The Calvert Drive-In movie theater in Marshall County is one of the last remaining drive-ins still operating nationwide! Bring a carload of friends or family for a night of burgers, popcorn, movies, and smiles!
  • The Cadiz Cruz-Ins happen in Trigg County on the first Saturday of the month April though October! This afternoon cruz-in is a great way to spend your Saturday enjoying old cars, food trucks, vendors, and more!
  • Amish Country in Marion, Crittenden County is the exact opposite of horsepower, but maybe that’s more your speed. Enjoy the quiet shops and homemade goods and crafts by the Amish and you may even catch the site of a horse and buggy alongside you.
  • Central City in Muhlenberg County is home to Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame. Learn the history of drag racing throughout Kentucky at this venue.

 

Day 2

What to do when you find yourself at a Fork in the road? You head to Bowling Green of course! That’s exactly what you’ll find in Simpson County!

  • Spend the morning picking tulips in Franklin or snapping that instagram worthy shot of the giant fork in the road!
  • Spend time browsing the incredible exhibits at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Warren County. Once you’ve learned the history of the Corvette, get behind the wheel and test your skills at the NCM Motorsports Park! Bowling Green can accommodate any Corvette lover’s need for speed! This city is “Geared for fun” after all!
  • Make a pit stop in Russell County at their classic car museum before heading on to a lively evening in downtown Somerset!
  • Finish the day by heading to Somerset, Kentucky in Pulaski County for Somernites Cruise weekend! These Cruise events take place the last weekend of the month April through October!

 

Day 3

All-board! Let’s ride along to our last stop on this car-themed horsepower itinerary.

  • Before heading north, be sure to catch the 11AM train ride in Stearns, Kentucky in McCreary County for a narrated guided hour and half long train ride along Big South Fork Scenic byway. It’s a unique way to see the beauty of Appalachia in Kentucky!
  • Book a free tour at the Toyota Assembly plant in Georgetown, Kentucky in Scott County. This gigantic facility gives people a “souped up” look into how the horsepower is made and what it takes to keep the wheels on the road!
  • Make a pit stop in Russell County at their classic car museum before heading on to a lively evening in downtown Somerset!
  • Depending on the weekend, you may also finish out the trip with one last Cruise in Anderson County. Traditionally these Cruise In events happen on the second Saturday of the month from 6:30 – 9:30PM in downtown in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky!
